Residential and small commercial cleaning

$38 an hour, two cleaners, bonded and insured.

A three bedroom house is usually three hours between the two of us, so about $114. There is no trip charge and no charge for supplies.

That is the whole price. It is on the top of the page because every cleaning company in this county makes you ring and ask, and asking a stranger what they charge to clean your bathroom is a thing people put off for weeks.

What gets done, room by room

This is the standing list. It does not change because it is the fourth visit, and nothing on it is an upgrade.

Kitchen

  • Counters cleared, wiped, put back
  • Sink scoured and the drain flushed
  • Cooktop and control knobs
  • Outside of the oven, and the glass
  • Outside of the fridge, top included
  • Microwave inside and out
  • Cabinet fronts, handles first
  • Backsplash
  • Small appliances moved, not cleaned around
  • Bin emptied and the liner replaced
  • Floor swept then mopped by hand at the edges

Bathrooms

  • Toilet, including the base and behind it
  • Shower and tub, walls and door tracks
  • Grout scrubbed where it has gone dark
  • Sink, taps and the overflow
  • Mirrors and any glass
  • Counter cleared and wiped
  • Cabinet fronts and handles
  • Towels folded or swapped if you leave clean ones out
  • Bin emptied
  • Floor mopped by hand around the toilet

Bedrooms and living areas

  • Dusting on every flat surface at or below head height
  • Picture frames, sills and ledges
  • Lamps and shades
  • Ceiling fan blades

Everywhere else

  • Light switches and door handles

  • Interior glass on the front and back doors
  • Cobwebs in corners and over doorways
  • Laundry room floor and the top of the machines

The first clean is longer

A house that has not had this done in a while takes four to six hours instead of three, because grout, ovens and skirting boards are a one-time backlog. That is the same $38 an hour, not a special rate, and after that a fortnightly house sits at three hours and stays there.

What is not on that list

Some of it can be added and some of it genuinely should go to somebody else. Both are said plainly here rather than discovered on the day.

  • Inside the ovenadd $45
  • Inside the fridge, shelves outadd $35
  • Interior windows, per windowadd $6
  • Cupboards emptied and wiped insideadd $30 a room
  • Laundry washed, dried and foldedadd $25 a load
  • Move-out clean, empty housequoted flat, usually $260 to $420
  • Carpet shampooing, upholstery cleaningnot done here
  • Exterior windows, gutters, pressure washingnot done here
  • Anything on a ladder above eight feetnot done here
  • Pet accidents, biohazard, mould remediationnot done here

How it actually goes

Ring (816) 555-0117 and describe the house: bedrooms, bathrooms, whether there are pets, and whether anybody is home during the day. That call takes four minutes and ends with an hours estimate and a date, not a sales visit.

The first visit is a walk-through of about ten minutes before anything starts, so nobody is guessing what you meant by the spare room. After that it is the same two people every time, so you are not explaining the house again, and they carry their own supplies unless you would rather they used yours, which some people do and it is not a problem.

Payment is on the day, cash, check or card. No contract, no cancellation fee, and if a week needs skipping then it gets skipped. Bonded and insured through a Missouri carrier, and the certificate can be emailed to you or to your landlord before the first visit if that is what is needed.
